Katsuaki Miyazawa
Owner, Setter, Head Coach
Katsu is most notably the coach of IFSC World Cup Gold medalists Tomoa Narasaki and Miho Nonaka. He is the owner and director of B-pump in Ogikubo with a unique and straight forward coaching style. Miyazawa's coaching approach is rooted in his experience as a route-setter, allowing him to understand the challenges and opportunities from a unique perspective.
Our camp will be utilizing the “Katsu Format”, providing a unique and intense twist on the standerd 4 minute simulation.
Hori Tsukuru
Head Setter
Tsukuru is a professional route setter and climber from Japan. Tsukuru has 20+ years of experience as a route setter and competitive climber, winning several World Cups and setting for IFSC World Cups.
He has made a name for himself in the climbing world, leaving an enduring legacy through his numerous accomplishments. Some of his most impressive achievements include victories at the Asian Continental Championships, the IFSC Climbing World Cups, and other prestigious competitions. In addition to this, Tsukuru is also manager and Head routesetter at B- Pump Ogikubo.
USA Coaches
Brett Wingerter
Brett is a youth competitive coach with 8+ years of experience. He has coached high-level climbers across North and South America and led an international training camp in Tokyo, bringing together top talent from the U.S. and Japan. Through years of collaboration with athletes and coaches, Brett has developed a vast perspective on training and performance. He has a straight forward coaching style that blends creativity, flow. and technical precision that builds towards both mental and physical mastery.
Jeremy Meza
Jeremy has helped youth athletes reach the national stage across all climbing disciplines, making 20 trips to Nationals as a coach. Jeremy is passionate about the personal growth that comes through climbing—the “aha!” moments, the challenges, and the sense of achievement that mirrors life’s ups and downs. His coaching philosophy centers on building resilience, discipline, and confidence, believing the lessons from climbing carry far beyond the wall. As a former nationally competitive athlete himself, Jeremy has seen the sport evolve and is proud to have an active role in shaping its future through the next generation. Outside of climbing, he enjoys snowboarding, fishing, water skiing, and working on DIY projects. For Jeremy, it’s the journey—not just the podium—that defines success.
Mickey Ashmont
With 25 years of climbing experience, Mickey Ashmont brings a deep well of knowledge and passion to his coaching sessions. As the Director of Coaching for the Gravity Vault, Mickey has helped shape training programs and develop athletes across all levels of the sport. His coaching style centers on spotting movement inefficiencies. Identifying strengths and weaknesses, and helping each climber understand what works best for their unique style.
